The Gefen EXT-UHD600A-12-DS is a compact and powerful solution for splitting a full-bandwidth HDMI 2.0 audio/video signal with HDR to two displays. Thanks to two independent, configurable scalers, it can simultaneously support a 4K 600 MHz and a 1080p Full HD display, making it ideal for mixed-resolution systems where one output might downscale a 4K signal to 1080p while the other passes it through. This scaler supports the highest performance available under the HDMI 2.0 standard, including 18.2 Gbps of data throughput, resolutions up to 4K Cinema-DCI (4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz 4:4:4), HDR-10, Dolby Vision™, and both HDCP 2.2 and 1.4. To complete the professional installation, a built-in audio de-embedder provides TOSLINK optical and analog L/R outputs for use with outboard amplifiers, while a versatile EDID Detective ensures guaranteed compatibility across a broad range of sources and displays.

How It Works

The Gefen EXT-UHD600A-12-DS operates by taking a single HDMI 2.0 source and splitting the signal to two separate outputs for use with two displays. Its primary function is to manage systems with mixed-resolution displays. For instance, a full 4K 600 MHz source signal can be sent to a 4K display through one output, while the independent scaler on the second output simultaneously downscales that same signal to 1080p Full HD for a legacy display. This ensures both displays receive a compatible video feed. While processing the video, the unit also de-embeds the audio from the HDMI stream, sending it to both a TOSLINK® optical digital output and a 3.5mm analog L/R output for connection to external amplifiers and audio systems. The entire process is managed by a powerful EDID Detective to ensure signal compatibility , with advanced scaling features configured through the Gefen Syner-G™ software.
