How It Works

The Gefen Digital Audio Extender operates with two main components: a Sender unit and a Receiver unit. To begin, connect your audio source component to either the S/PDIF or TOSLINK input port on the Sender unit. The Sender unit then connects to the Receiver unit via a single CAT-5e cable that can be up to 330 feet (100 meters) long. Finally, connect the Receiver unit to your extended audio component, such as an AV receiver or amplifier. The incoming audio signal is conveniently output on both the S/PDIF and TOSLINK ports of the Receiver unit simultaneously. Power is only required for the Sender unit, as the Receiver is powered over the CAT-5e cable, simplifying the installation at the remote location.
