How It Works

The Gefen DVI KVM over IP system operates with two main components: this Sender unit and one or more Receiver units (sold separately). First, connect your DVI source, computer (via USB), and any RS-232 or audio devices to the Sender unit. The Sender then connects to your local area network (LAN) via a standard CAT-5e or better cable. A Receiver unit at the remote location also connects to the LAN and to your display, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals. This setup allows you to access and control the source from the remote workstation as if it were directly connected. By adding multiple Senders and Receivers to the network, you can create a flexible and massively scalable 'virtual matrix,' allowing any connected workstation to control any source on the network.

System Requirements

  • A Local Area Network (LAN) with a managed Gigabit switch.
  • If a DHCP server is not available in the network, the Sender and Receiver units must be configured with static IP addresses.
