The Gefen EXT-DVIKA-LANS-TX is a Gen 2.0 KVM over IP Sender unit that provides a high-performance, scalable, and secure solution for extending and distributing AV over a standard Gigabit Local Area Network. This Sender extends DVI video, USB, RS-232, IR, and 2-way audio up to 330 feet (100 meters) to a network of receiver units. Supporting resolutions up to 1080p Full HD and 1920x1200 (WUXGA), it ensures crisp, clear visuals for demanding applications, while a local DVI output allows for convenient source monitoring. The system is massively scalable, supporting up to 39,900 Senders in a virtual matrix, making it ideal for large-scale KVM, control, and digital signage installations. Independent routing of video, USB, RS-232, IR, and audio offers ultimate flexibility, allowing any workstation to control any source on the network.

Versatile USB Hub: The Receiver is equipped with two USB 2.0 ports with data rates up to 480 Mbps and two USB 1.1 ports for Human Interface Devices (H.I.D.) with KM Emulation.

 

Multiple Control Interfaces: Controllable via a built-in web interface, Telnet, UDP, the Gefen Keyboard Switching Controller software, and an enhanced API for third-party control systems.

 

System Integration Support: Fully compatible with the Gefen EXT-CU-LAN Matrix Controller for quick configuration, Mass-Firmware-Updates (MFU), and enhanced system security.

 

Professional Enclosures: Features locking power supply connectors , included L-brackets for surface-mounting , and half-rack width enclosures that can be rack-mounted using the EXT-RACK-1U-GRY rack tray.

How It Works

The Gefen DVI KVM over IP system works with two main components: a Sender (TX) and one or more Receiver (RX) units. The DVI source, USB for KVM, RS-232, and audio are all connected to the Sender unit. The corresponding display, keyboard/mouse, and other peripherals are connected to the Receiver unit. For a simple point-to-point extension, the Sender and Receiver can be connected directly using a single CAT-5e or better cable up to 330 feet (100 meters). To create a more advanced and scalable system, connect multiple Senders and Receivers to a standard Gigabit Local Area Network switch. In this network configuration, the system operates as a virtual KVM matrix where any Receiver can be switched to control any Sender on the network, supporting installations with up to 39,900 Senders.

System Requirements

Network Switch: A managed Gigabit switch is required. A dedicated LAN is not required but is highly recommended.

 

Switch Features: Jumbo Frame Support (8k or greater) and IGMP Snooping must be enabled on the network switch.

 

Cabling: Shielded CAT-5e (or better) cabling must be used for all network connections.

 

Cable Length: The network cable run from the Sender unit to the IP switch must not exceed 330 feet (100 meters).
