How It Works

To operate the Gefen Fiber Optic HDMI Extender system, first, connect the Sender pigtail module directly to the HDMI source and the Receiver pigtail module to the HDTV display. Next, link the two modules by connecting a single-strand, SC-terminated multimode fiber optic cable to the fiber optic connector on each unit. Finally, connect the included 5V DC power supply to the Receiver module to complete the installation. The Sender module is designed to draw power directly from the HDMI source, typically eliminating the need for a second power supply unless the source provides insufficient power. Once powered, a vibrant, high-definition picture will appear on the remote display.

System Requirements

Fiber Optic Cable:

For extension up to 3300 feet (1000 meters), a single-strand 50/125µm multimode (OM2/OM3) SC-terminated fiber optic cable is required.

 

For extension up to 1000 feet (300 meters), a single-strand 62.5/125µm (OM1) SC-terminated fiber optic cable may be used.

 

Power:

The Receiver pigtail module must be connected to the included 5V DC power supply.

 

If the source device does not supply enough power to the Sender pigtail module through the HDMI connector, a specific Gefen 5V DC power supply (part no. EXT-PS52AIP-1.3) must be used.
