The Gefen EXT-UHD-LANS-TX Sender is a high-performance AV over IP solution that extends and distributes 4K HDMI with HDR, RS-232, IR, and audio over a standard Gigabit Local Area Network. This powerful sender unit transmits signals up to 330 feet (100 meters) from the source to any receiver on the network. Supporting input resolutions up to 4K 60Hz 4:2:0 and featuring Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), the EXT-UHD-LANS-TX is ideal for creating massively scalable virtual matrix systems in a wide range of professional AV applications, including digital signage.

Power-over-Ethernet (PoE): Conforms to the 802.3af PoE standard, allowing the unit to be powered by a compatible network switch and eliminating the need for the external power supply.

 

Independent Signal Routing: Allows for the independent routing of Video, RS-232, IR, and audio signals, enabling end-users to control any source from any display location within the network.

 

Selectable Picture Quality Modes: Features a recessed mode button to toggle between optimizing the image for sharpness (Graphic mode) or for fluid motion (Video mode).

 

Analog Audio Embedding: A 3.5mm line-in port allows an external analog audio source to be connected, which takes priority and replaces the audio from the HDMI input.

 

Backward-Compatibility: Ensures seamless integration with first-generation Gefen AV over IP products, protecting existing infrastructure investments.

How It Works

The Gefen AV over IP system operates with two main components: an EXT-UHD-LANS-TX Sender unit and one or more Receiver units. First, connect your 4K HDMI source, as well as any separate analog audio, RS-232, and IR control signals, to the corresponding inputs on the Sender unit. The Sender unit then connects to a standard Gigabit LAN switch using a single CAT-5e cable, extending the signals up to 330 feet (100 meters). A Receiver, set to the same channel as the Sender, decodes the signal for a connected display. By adding multiple Senders and Receivers to the network, you create a flexible and massively scalable 'virtual matrix,' allowing any source to be routed to any or all displays on the network.

System Requirements

Network Switch: A managed gigabit switch is required when connecting through a Local Area Network.

 

Switch Features: The network switch must have Jumbo Frame Support (8k or greater) and IGMP Snooping enabled.

 

Cabling: Shielded CAT-5e or better cabling is required for connections between the Sender and the network switch.

 

Cable Length: Each cable run from the Sender to the network switch must not exceed 330 feet (100 meters).

 

Network Configuration: While not required, a dedicated LAN is highly recommended.

 

Management Software: The product is designed for use with the Gefen Syner-G™ software for simplified initial IP configuration.

 

Control System (Recommended): For automated configuration, Mass-Firmware-Updates (MFU), and enhanced security, the use of the Gefen EXT-CU-LAN Matrix Controller is highly recommended.
