Gen 2.0 VGA KVM over IP Sender (EXT-VGAKA-LANS-TX)

EXT-VGAKA-LANS-TX

The Gefen Gen 2.0 VGA KVM over IP Sender provides a powerful and flexible solution for extending multiple signals over a single Gigabit Local Area Network. This sender unit allows you to route VGA video at resolutions up to 1080p Full HD and 1920x1200 (WUXGA), along with USB, RS-232, IR, and 2-way analog audio, up to 330 feet (100 meters) to any compatible receiver on the network. Ideal for creating scalable KVM matrix systems that can support over 65,000 devices, this sender is the cornerstone for large-scale remote workstation control and professional AV/IT signal management.

Key Features

Comprehensive Signal Extension: Extends VGA video, USB, RS-232, IR, and 2-way analog audio over a standard Gigabit Local Area Network.

High-Resolution Video Support: Supports input and output resolutions up to 1080p Full HD and 1920x1200 (WUXGA).

Massive Scalability: Create a virtual matrix using up to 39,900 Senders and a combination of over 65,000 Sender and Receiver units on a single network, depending on bandwidth.

Power Over Ethernet: With 802.3af standard Power-over-Ethernet support, the Sender can be powered through a PoE-enabled IP network switch, eliminating the need for an external power supply.

Local Video Output: Features a dedicated VGA output for local monitoring of the connected source device.

Integrated Video Wall Controller: A built-in video wall controller accommodates configurations of up to 16 rows and 16 columns.

Flexible Management: Can be managed via its built-in web interface , Telnet , UDP , or as part of a larger system using the Gefen EXT-CU-LAN Matrix Controller and Gefen Syner-G™ software.

Versatile Mounting Options: The half-rack width enclosure can be surface-mounted using the included L-brackets or installed in a 1U rack tray (model EXT-RACK-1U-GRY, sold separately).

How It Works

The Gefen Gen 2.0 VGA KVM over IP system operates using a Sender unit and one or more Receiver units to route signals across your local area network. Simply connect your VGA source computer to the Sender's video, USB, and audio inputs. Then, connect a display, keyboard, mouse, and speakers to a Receiver unit at your remote workstation. For a direct point-to-point extension, you can connect the Sender to a Receiver with a single CAT-5e cable up to 330 feet (100 meters). To build a larger system, connect the Sender and multiple Receivers to a central Gigabit switch. By setting the channel on any Receiver to match the channel of a specific Sender, you create a vastly scalable and flexible virtual KVM matrix, allowing any connected workstation to take control of any source on the network.

System Requirements

Network Switch: A managed gigabit switch is required when connecting through a Local Area Network.

Switch Configuration: The network switch must have Jumbo Frame Support (8k or greater) and IGMP Snooping enabled.

Network Cabling: Shielded CAT-5e or better cabling is required. Cable runs between the Sender and the IP switch or Receiver unit must not exceed 330 feet (100 meters).

Power: The Sender unit requires either a standard PoE-enabled IP network switch (802.3af) or the included 5V DC power supply if a PoE switch is not used.

Control (Recommended): The Gefen EXT-CU-LAN Matrix Controller is highly recommended for setting up and controlling the AV-over-IP network. The Gefen Syner-G™ Software Suite can also be used for IP configuration and firmware updates.
