How It Works

The Gefen USB 2.0 LR Extender system operates with two main components: a Sender unit and a Receiver unit. First, connect the Sender unit to the host computer using the supplied USB cable. Next, connect up to two USB peripherals to the two-port Receiver unit at the desired remote location. The Sender and Receiver units are then linked together using a single, user-supplied CAT-5, CAT-5e, or CAT-6 cable up to 330 feet (100 meters) in length. Finally, connect the included 5V DC power supplies to both the Sender and Receiver units and plug them into an available electrical outlet. As a true plug-and-play hardware solution, no software drivers are required; the host system automatically recognizes the connected USB devices as if they were attached locally.
